Resumo: | The present Master Project in Sculpture, Specialization in Sculpture Studies, resides in the theme of Gender Diversity and Sexuality and investigates the limits of the potential of dangerousness of the manly man in society; it deals with the practical elaboration of public sculptures named Empírocas. EMPÍROCA is a theoreticalpractical investigation and consists of a series of installations representing The Gardens of Priapus. Through sculptural actions ranging from the elaboration of phallic sound sculptures in ceramics to various three-dimensional interdicted actions that shape human genitals throughout situations of risk and threat. In order to reflect on the problematic of situations of recurrent abuse by and through male chauvinism/machismo and on the limits of the prejudices suffered by the diverse gender identities, orientations and sexual behaviors, it observes how the clandestinity of such theme is broken down by its aesthetic fruition. Through the deconstruction of macho and decapitalization of phallus, this work has as main referential cornerstone the Parque das Esculturas Francisco Brennand in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil; and it aims at the protection of every body that recognizes itself in situations of physical, moral and ethical abuse. It is characterized by the analysis of how the symbol of phallus power has been transformed from the time of ancient Greece until contemporary times andand its main epistemological focus is the formation of the Man of Cangaço originated from the Brazilian northeastern Sertão of twentieth century. |
