Resumo: The Directive 2000/60/EC, the Portuguese Decree-Law nº 208/2008, and the Portuguese Decree-Law nº 130/2012, intend to safeguard and protect groundwater resources, based on their preservation, conservation and efficient management. Through a hidrogeomorphological approach, we present the results of a groundwater resources inventory in the middle basin of the Uíma River (Santa Maria da Feira) and in the basin of the Sá River, and a section of Sardoura River (Castelo de Paiva). The development of an inventory form was essential to interpret the distribution and location of 416 springs identified on the two study areas. Finally, the methodology applied both in the field and in the office revealed the importance of inventory and knowledge of groundwater resources at a municipal level in order to contribute to the improvement of spatial planning in case of municipal policies for groundwater resources or crisis related with droughts.
