Resumo: Tourism products are relatively diversified in Portugal and are enhancers of sustainable development strategies at a regional level. In this context, it is necessary to implement a thorough inventory of endogenous resources, which leads to its knowledge. Following this study, it is important the acknowledgment of tourism resources that may lead to the definition of the tourism vocation and the image of the region and, thus, promoting the development of new excellence tourism products, working as true instigators of tourism policies and strategies, projecting that dynamism to a regional level. In this precise context, we intend to reflect on the potential of several emerging tourism products in the Pólo de Desenvolvimento Turístico da Serra da Estrela, to achieve the goal of a sustainable development strategy for Serra da Estrela Region and its value image.

Neste âmbito, revela-se a necessidade de implementar uma inventariação rigorosa dos recursos endógenos com vista ao seu conhecimento. No seguimento desse estudo, é importante a definição dos recursos turísticos que podem determinar a vocação e a imagem turística de cada região e, assim, promover o desenvolvimento de novos produtos turísticos de excelência, funcionando como verdadeiros dinamizadores das políticas e das estratégias sectoriais do turismo, sobretudo projetando essa dinâmica a nível regional.
