monument · antiquity · typology · modernity · utopiaA competition for university students, commemorating the five-hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Château de Chambord and the death of Leonardo da Vinci, served as a starting point for the development of this dissertation. Thus, the object of the present work is the project, carried out and presented in group, reflected in a written exposition. The contest's statement set the challenge of re-imagining the utopia suggested by the monument's «unfinished»1 construction. Given this premise, our collective project proposed a finalization of Chambord, reminiscent of its history and typology to better substantiate an ideal prospect. Therefore, the objective of the dissertation corresponds to the critical reflection of the delivered project, trying to answer the questions raised and left open by the project and, at the same time, suggest specific changes justified by the readings done after the design process. The dissertation we present is an incomplete memory of an ideal project, defined by the imperfect conviction of an architect who has never built.
