Resumo: From an environmental, social and economical level, food waste can be found among the main challenges that humanity faces on the XXI century. Yearly, on a global level, there are 1,6 thousand million tonnes of food that ends in the trash, an amount of waste responsible for a cost of 600 million euros, which also contributes to increase greenhouse gases emissions, to the decrease of drinking water reserves and has a negative impact on environmental biodiversity. Each year, it's estimated that 1 million tonnes of food are wasted on a national level alone, and that 324 thousand of those are on the consumer level, representing around 132 kg of wasted food per person. This reality has been fought by movements such as "Good After", "Refood" and "Movimento Zero Desperdício". The reuse of food by solidary solidarity institutions requires careful operational planning, specially when the objective is resource sharing between organizations. It's necessary to consider if the so called reuse of a certain donation is worth from the social, economic and environmental standpoint, since a certain type of food donation may not be as valuable to an institution as it may be to another. From this point of view, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate and work on the development of a Decision Support System on the food waste reduction in social solidarity projects. This will naturally involve cooperation between solidarity institutions in order to fufill the gaps of the different types of food in inventory from each institution by sharing the food donors network. The system to be developed will support itself on concepts related do Sectorization and Routing. For instance, donor lists divided into sectors, while on the other hand an analisys to new donations for a certain day and the suggestion of the most suitable organization to aquire it by incorporating it in the pre-existing routes.
