A outra face da cidade: o interior do quarteirão habitado

A presente dissertação tem como objectivo demonstrar as possibilidades de habitar um interior de quarteirão, e consequentemente, consumar a regeneração de muitos destes espaços que se encontram actualmente à margem da cidade. 0 interesse pelo tema foi sendo alimentado no seio académico, através das variadas análises feitas à malha urbana de Lisboa e, numa perspectiva mais pessoal, pela curiosidade dos fenómenos de variação populacional de que a cidade tem sido alvo. Se por um lado, as cidades históricas, de malha consolidada, tendem a perder população, por outro, as periferias cresceram de uma forma exagerada e descontrolada, essencialmente com a promessa de melhores condições habitacionais a custos mais baixos. Esta realidade tem uma origem essencialmente económica, no entanto, o que se prentende demonstrar, é que, para além da reabilitação isolada de edifícios que comporta custos mais elevados, existem outras formas de reabilitar a cidade, com igual capacidade de uma total integração no meio urbano, possibilitando uma relação habitação/cidade ainda mais íntima e enriquecedora. Paralelamente e em consonância com a componente prática da dissertação, desenvolvida na cadeira de projecto avançado III, o tema em questão pretende fortalecer e clarificar as opções da intervenção. Cujo o enfoque foi, para além da resposta ao programa habitacional para uma comunidade sénior, demonstrar o potencial de espaços como o em questão. É por isso importante investigar os vários tipos de interior de quarteirão, as actuais relações com a cidade, a sua origem e potencialidades. E num segundo momento, constatar através de exemplos, a "imposição" feita pela arquitectura. Contudo, é através do paralelismo entre vários casos de estudo de diferentes realidades espacio-temporais, que se pretende por fim, dar resposta às problemáticas da introdução da habitação no interior de quarteirão, permitindo reflectir sobre um novo pensar da arquitectura, da habitação mais concretamente e do tipo de relações que podem advir deste vínculo; ### ABSTRACT: - This final work aims to demonstrate the possibilities of inhabiting an inside block, and there through achieve the rehabilitation of many of these spaces which are currently apart from the city. This subject has been under the spotlight during the last years, mainly due to the continuous depopulation of city centers and, on the other hand, the fast growth of its suburbs. The main reason for this current scenario is fundamentally linked with economic issues. However, besides the high costs of the building rehabilitation process, there are other ways of rehabilitating the city, keeping its essence while achieving a rewarding liaison between housing and city. In line with the practical component of the course of study Projecto Avançado III, the subject in question aims to strengthen and clarify the options for intervention, thus adding to the realization of what was foreseen in theory. The project aims to unite the richness of these notable city spaces with housing, in this case, designed for seniors. One of the main drives is to achieve a fully sociological and architectural integration into the urban setting, of what is an intramural neighborhood. First of all its important investigate the several types of inside block; the existing relationships with the city, its origins and potential. And thereafter seen through examples, the advantage that architecture has to occupy this interiors, sometimes by social reasons emerging or simply because they recognize unique characteristics to this spaces. In this spaces interiors that settled in these emerging social reasons, or the demand for urban spaces endowed with unique characteristics. These phenomena observed throughout the history of the city contributed to the current connotation of these interior spaces as remarkable city. Through parallelism made between several case studies of different realities, intended to eventually respond to problems within the housing block, allowing consider a new thinking in architecture, housing and more specifically the type of relationships that can result of this bond.
