Due to the future expected changes in the outdoor climate, today’s exterior mortar might not be adequately designed to protect these walls. This paper aims to analyse the influence of mortars on the hygrothermal performance of solid brick walls under current and future climates. The study includes four types of assemblies and three types of mortars, and it was carried out for Lisbon and three other climates by using a computational simulation tool. Finally, the moisture gains and respective reach due to the future wind-driven rain (WDR) spells were assessed by means of using future weather files for Lisbon’s climate. It was shown that the solid brick layer is influenced differently depending on the characteristics of the mortar layers and outdoor conditions. In terms of WDR spells, aside from the precipitation and the spell period, the distribution of the WDR events within the spell also conditions the dryness of the assembly. The depth that the outdoor moisture was able to reach varies between 94 and 200 mm.DEC - Departamento de Engenharia CivilRUNCoelho, Guilherme B.A.Henriques, Fernando M.A.2023-09-25T22:20:34Z2023-052023-05-01T00:00:00Zinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/article31application/pdfhttp://hdl.handle.net/10362/158274eng2076-3417PURE: 72362168https://doi.org/10.3390/app13106318info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos)instname:Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãoinstacron:RCAAP2024-03-11T05:40:34Zoai:run.unl.pt:10362/158274Portal AgregadorONGhttps://www.rcaap.pt/oai/openaireopendoar:71602024-03-20T03:57:03.030698Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos) - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãofalse |
