Resumo: | Abstract The present study aimed at examining whether better mood and better intimate relationship quality are independently associated with better sexual function. The sample consisted of 401 subjects aged between 18 and 65 years (265 females and 136 males). Participants completed the Perceived Relationship Quality Components (PRQC) Inventory and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS). Additionally, women completed the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the Female Sexual Distress Scale - Revised (FSDS-R), while men completed the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF). For both sexes, intercorrelations between more negative mood, poorer intimate relationship quality, and poorer sexual function were confirmed. In multiple regressions, more negative mood, poorer relationship quality, and use of medicines for anxiety or depression were independently associated with more sexual difficulties. |
