Mosteiros medievais de Clarissas em Portugal: contributo para a sua caracterização morfotipológica, recuperação e valorização

Após breve nota sobre a Ordem de Santa Clara em Portugal, com a inventariação cronológica dos seus mosteiros, é feita a respetiva caracterização morfotipológica. Esta análise baseia-se nos doze conjuntos monásticos edificados entre os séculos XIII e XVI onde ainda é possível encontrar as características originais das construções realizadas até ao Concílio de Trento. A informação disponível sobre os restantes mosteiros foi igualmente integrada neste trabalho. Não se pretende fazer a história de cada conjunto, mas interpretar as características dos espaços e a sua organização funcional dentro da época em estudo. Foram encontradas duas tipologias de igrejas. Quanto às dependências regulares, essa tarefa revelou-se impossível, dadas as alterações posteriores à sua construção. A continuidade do tipo de ocupação mantida durante séculos foi interrompida no séc. XIX, devido à exclaustração das ordens religiosas, o que conduziu ao abandono dos mosteiros e consequente reaproveitamento para novas funções. Alguns foram alvo de trabalhos de restauro, ao abrigo dos conceitos vigentes na época. /ABSTRACT - Medieval Clarisse Monasteries in Portugal - Contributions to Their Morphological and Typological Characterization, Conservation and Valorization. After a brief note about the Order of Saint Clare in Portugal, with the chronological inventory of their monasteries, a morphological and typological analysis of their characters is made. This study is based in the twelve monastic ensembles erected between the 13th and the 16th centuries where it is still possible to find the original features of the buildings made up to the Council of Trent. The information available about the remaining monasteries has also been included in this study. The objective is not to make the history of each ensemble, but to understand the characters of those spaces and their functional organization in the years under analysis. Two types of churches have been found. On the other monastic buildings, the task proved impossible, due to the changes made after their construction. The continuous type of occupation kept for centuries was interrupted in the 19th century by the extinction of the religious orders in Portugal, which led to the monasteries being abandoned and subsequently reused for different purposes. Some were the object of restoration works according to the contemporary concepts available.
