Resumo: The aim of this paper is to study the language of imagination with the research of the metaphor and symbol and its uses in education thought, and its horticultural metaphors connected to vegetable symbolism. The acting of imaginative power of the living metaphors (Paul Ricoeur) leads us to the next step, which aims to understand the dynamics of symbolic imagination in imaginative psyche (Gaston Bachelard, Gilbert Durand and Wunenburger). Concludes the paper the articulation of concepts defi ned to a pedagogy of imagination and the imaginative formation of the subject, so that the language of imagination can eff ectively contribute to education thought
