As mudanças sociais registadas nas últimas décadas, nomeadamente aquelas referentes à globalização em curso, obrigam a repensar as estratégias, os conteúdos, modelos de avaliação e o posicionamento das matrizes curriculares numa articulação crítica com o mercado de trabalho e sistemas produtivos. A evolução tecnológica obrigou a reequacionar a relação desequilibrada entre o que o sistema de ensino confere através do diploma – hard skills e as soft skills. Esta questão faz repensar o lugar das artes no sistema educativo, na medida em que são elas, em certa medida, responsáveis pela aquisição dessas competências transversais e tão valorizadas pelas sociedades globais. Neste trabalho, pretende-se, após o enquadramento destas questões do ensino, compreender o lugar das artes, nomeadamente do ensino da dança, música e do teatro, no sistema educativo português. Como ainda não se encontrou um lugar esclarecido e bem definido para a criatividade, musicalidade e para a representação dramática, as escolas procuram responder aos desafios existentes e daí a importância dos clubes que, sob a forma de atividades extracurriculares, vão colmatando as lacunas derivadas da inexistência de áreas artísticas em boa parte dos currículos escolares. Neste trabalho, está relatada uma experiência do desenvolvimento de atividades artísticas numa escola, Centro de Estudos de Fátima (CEF), que funcionam como clubes escolares. Privilegiando a observação direta e a participação ativa pode-se verificar e compreender as dinâmicas que se vão desenvolvendo nesses clubes e na comunidade escolar envolvente. Foi possível sistematizar uma vasta e longa experiência que tem atravessado sucessivos anos letivos (nesta escola, os clubes, na sua modalidade atual, funcionam desde 1993 até à atualidade) e que procura concretizar as expectativas dos alunos, pais e restantes educadores e intervenientes sociais. O estágio curricular efetuado permitiu compreender que tipo de atividades são desenvolvidas nos clubes, como interagem os seus intervenientes e como concretizam os seus objetivos.Palavras – Chave: escola, educação artística, dança, música, teatro.One of the great challenges of societies is the analysis and framing of the school and the role of education in the social context and in current social practices. The social changes registered in the last decades, in particular those concerning globalization in progress, require a rethinking of the strategies, contents, models of evaluation and the positioning of curricular matrices in a critical articulation with the labor market and productive systems. The technological evolution forced to rethinking the unbalanced relationship between what the education system gives through the diploma - hard skills and soft skills. This question brings with it the need of rethinking the place of the arts in the educational system, inasmuch as they are to a certain extent responsible for the acquisition of those transversal competences so valued by global societies. In this work, it is intended, after framing these teaching questions, to understand the place of the arts, namely the teaching of dance, music and theater, in the Portuguese educational system. A clear and well-defined place for creativity, musicality and dramatic representation has not yet been found; so, schools seek to respond to existing challenges and, therefore, we can see the importance of clubs that, in the form of extracurricular activities, provide some answers to the absence of artistic areas in most school curricula. In this work, we will report an experience of the development of artistic activities in a school, Centro de Estudos de Fátima (CEF), that operates through school clubs focused in the education for the arts. By privileging direct observation and active participation, one can verify and understand the dynamics that were developed in those clubs and in the surrounding school community. It was possible to systematize a vast and long experience that has crossed successive years (in this school, the clubs, in their current modality, have worked since 1993 until now) and that seeks to fulfill the expectations of students, parents and other educators and social actors. The curricular internship in which this report is based has made it possible to understand what kind of activities are developed in the clubs, how their players interact and how they achieve their goals.
