Resumo: | This research study examines the effects and benefits of Mindfulness, a practice characterized by focused, nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment, in Design Management performance, specifically how it helps to overcome the downsides of this role. To address this question, this research study presents an analysis of 19 semi-structured interviews, and 55 structured questionnaires to professionals in the field. Analysis of the interviews suggest that Design Managers who practice mindfulness have a better approach to handle the downsides of their role, after experiencing diminished automaticity and increased self-awareness, decreased stress, anxiety and negative mood, enhanced attention and positive attitude, and ultimately attained health. Therefore, they enhance their performance in the characteristics and responsibilities in the context of Design Management. Additionally, this study highlights the importance of considering implementing the practice of mindfulness within the work environment given the results obtained, and lastly, proposes an hypothesis in order to test the key findings in future research. |
