Resumo: The purpose of this work comes from an opportunity for a practice. A speculation associated with an ancient wine cellar in São Martinho do Campo, compromised by its obsoleteness. The exercise will try to respond to the necessities of the space's rehabilitation according to the new functions being installed. The dissertation's proposal should be understood in the meeting of the Patrimonial recognition of the built environment, due to the site's problematic and to the potential of a new use to be adapted to the existing structure. Divided in four chapters, the dissertation theorizes different themes underlying the intervention over said pre-existence, associating a geographic site to the Patrimonial potentials of contemporary territory. Abstract concepts are gathered as a point of departure, being constantly referred to throughout the thesis and, therefore, becoming fundamental to an accurate interpretation of the site. These references are notable throughout the text and at this point they become understood. The second moment of the dissertation searches the persuasion, through a declaration of the project's principles and intentions associated to the problem of the recognisance and maintenance of a contemporary Patrimony. A built ensemble will be identified which, by understanding its potential, will approach the problematic of the appropriation of spaces that present deficiencies in its functional and constructive maintenance. Keeping in mind an industrial typology, guiding strategies will be gathered with the objective of addressing a problem, declaring points of view and evoking the opportunity to the investment over a Patrimonial ensemble needing rejuvenating architectural actions. The third chapter synthesises a critical analysis which graduates from an urban environment to the particular and rural site where the thesis' object is located. In a decentralized site, the space appears fragmented by the functions it groups out. The environment is understood as scattered functions which are organized spontaneously, gathering agricultural and industrial activities with inhabited dwellings. The definition of the private space determines the characterization of the site as object of Project, being several the surrounding structures "degraded" by the abandonment of their initial functions. This understanding of the site proves to be important for the dissertation by the recognition of the need for project operations that aim towards the qualification and stimulation of the region's architectural potentials through previously built buildings. The culmination of the dissertation presents the project's process of development by the consolidation of previously exposed work. The old wine cellar converted in a small unit of industrial logistics to serve a new function: the development of a cosmetic and treatment unit of industrial logistics: having grapes as its raw material, framed in a typology of industrial innovation and experimental development. Assembling notions acquired in the previous points relating to the general characterisation of the site and relevant architectonic principles to the maintenance of pre-existences, the considerations and notes relating to the new functional program to be adapted and its commercial strategy will be gathered here, along with the declaration of the principles of intervention, architectonic references. and the set of process and project drawings which compose a final proposal. Searching thereby, an encounter with the existing reality, by the safeguard of a memory, with a new functional potential express by a contemporary architectural logic.
