Contudo não há um enxerto, que consiga reunir todas as vantagens. Estas vantagens estão distribuídas pelos diversos tipo de enxertos, havendo no entanto sempre algum que se destaque em relação aos demais em determinadas especificidades. Objetivo O objetivo deste trabalho visa, à luz da literatura científica, avaliar se a matriz de colagénio suíno é previsível no recobrimento radicular e no ganho de gengiva queratinizada e se os seus resultados são comparáveis aos do enxerto de tecido conjuntivo, podendo desse modo apresentar-se como uma alternativa viável. Material e Métodos O suporte bibliográfico deste trabalho foi alcançado a partir do motor de busca PubMed, através da introdução das palavras-chave “Mucograft”, “Xenogeneic Collagen Matrix”, “Porcine Collagen Matrix”, “Gengival Graft”, “Root Coverage”, “Gengival Recession” e “Keratinized Gingiva”. Na seleção dos resultados da pesquisa, teve-se sempre a preocupação de escolher estudos ou ensaios clínicos controlados e randomizados que abordassem a comparação da matriz de colagénio suíno com outra técnica de enxerto gengival, desde o surgimento da mesma, ou seja em 2008. Foram também recolhidas revisões sistemáticas e bibliográficas com o intuito de poder descrever a evolução dos procedimentos de enxerto gengival até à data. Houve também uma seleção de artigos, com vista a descrever a condição patológica da recessão gengival. Conclusão Com vista a colmatar as desvantagens inerentes à utilização do enxerto de tecido conjuntivo sub-epitelial, têm vindo a surgir alternativas não-autógenas. Contudo convém sublinhar, que o enxerto de tecido conjuntivo sub-epitelial continua a ser aquele, que apresenta os melhores resultados clínicos, sendo ainda considerado o tratamento de eleição. A utilização de enxertos alógenos ou xenógenos, têm também o seu espaço em casos em que os pacientes estejam muito renitentes a receber um enxerto autógeno devido à dor e desconforto, que isso que lhe poderá causar. Com a ênfase dada, neste trabalho, à matriz de colagénio suína (Mucograft®), é possível concluir, que esta se enquadra razoavelmente bem nos pressupostos exigidos a que uma alternativa ao tratamento de eleição deve obedecer, sem comprometer os resultados clínicos mínimos exigidos. Introduction The gingival grafts appeared in order to restore a condition of pre-existing anatomical normality, either with regard of increasing root coverage, or to gain keratinized tissue. Yet there isn’t a graft, which can meet all the advantages. These advantages are distributed by the various types of grafts, however there are always someone that is more effective than others in certain specificities. Objective The objective of this review is through of scientific literature, assess if the porcine collagen matrix is predictable in root coverage and gain of keratinized gingiva and access if, its results are comparable to the connective tissue graft and thus can be presented as a viable alternative. Material and Methods The literature that supports this work was achieved from the PubMed search engine, through the introduction of the keywords "Mucograft", “Xenogeneic Collagen Matrix”, “Porcine Collagen Matrix”, "Gingival Graft" "Root Coverage", "Gingival Recession" and “Keratinized Gingiva”. From the results, there was always the concern of selecting studies or randomized controlled trials, which involve the porcine collagen matrix compared with other gingival graft technique, since the emergence of the same in 2008, were also collected systematic reviews and literature reviews in order to describe the evolution of gingival graft procedures to date. There was also a selection of articles in order to describe the pathological condition of gingival recession. Conclusion In order to overcome the disadvantages inherent to sub-epithelial gingival graft (ETCS), had been raised non-autogenous alternatives. However it should be noted that the golden standard continues to be the one, that presents the best clinical results. The use of allografts or xenografts also have their space, in cases where patients are very reluctant to receive an autograft due to pain and discomfort that it may cause to him.
