Resumo: | Held under the Master of Architecture of Faculty of Architecture, University of Oporto, the study carried out is based on the study of clay brick, having Aveiro region as background. The scarcity of stone and the abundance of clays and sands in relation to the lithology, dictated a strong tradition of use of structural ceramics in construction, particularly in buildings of industrial character. Being an unexplored material in Portuguese architecture, the objective of this study is to know clay brick as a construction material, to contextualize it in the vernacular and contemporary architecture of Aveiro region, and understand the relevance of its use nowadays. |
