Resumo: | This dissertation addresses the making of a prototype of a musical instrument based on the Bela platform, from conventional techniques for building digital instruments and applying electronic and acoustic components. The concepts of expressiveness and gesture are dealt with by applying mappings that give this prototype a sense of expressiveness for live music performance. The research section presents examples of contemporary expressive interfaces and other digital instruments, as well as a theoretical review of some researchers in this field of study. In the practical section, the processes involved in developing the prototype are described with reference to the sensors and components used, their computer programming and their assembly in the format of a standalone instrument. To carry out this investigation, action-research and artistic investigation methodologies were used, promoting a reflective attitude throughout the project and so bringing together the elements of the construction of the instrument with its subsequent expressive capabilities. |
