Resumo: Sex workers around the world and throughout history have been the targets of marginalization and discrimination, especially those who are transgender. With a phenomenon as vast as the COVID-19 pandemic, it raises questions about how this population may have been affected during that time. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on this population and the strategies adopted to overcome potential difficulties. Seven semi-structured interviews were conducted with transgender women who engage in sex work as their profession. The data were analyzed using mixed categorical analysis, resulting in three themes: "Perceptions of Transgender Sex Workers on COVID-19 and the Social Impact of COVID-19 on Their Lives"; "Strategies to Combat the Pandemic Situation"; and "Demands of Transgender Sex Workers." It was concluded that the participants faced financial difficulties, often breaking government rules. They adopted strategies to combat the pandemic situation, including receiving financial and food assistance from friends and family. They also reported a lack of overall support from the Portuguese government, which made them feel even more vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the relevance of studying how this population experienced this period is discussed. Keywords: Sex workers; trans; COVID-19 pandemic
