Para tal e tendo a reabilitação da sua casa de férias em Seixas, Caminha, no âmbito do trabalho prático da disciplina de projecto III da Universidade Lusíada do Porto como ponto de partida, e depois do seu enquadramento social, político e artístico nesta transição do século XIX para o século XX, Ventura Terra é colocado em contraponto com Raul Lino, devido ao papel determinante, que ambos, inseridos num classicismo romântico tiveram na evolução da habitação. Raul Lino associado a modelo culturalista e a uma forma mais passional de pensar e Ventura Terra a um modelo progressista, mais racional e objectivo. Conclui-se assim que a habitação de Ventura Terra, homem cosmopolita, visionário e de grande modernidade, apesar de algum ecletismo é marcada essencialmente pela escola Beaux-Arts, dentro de um urbanismo neoclássico, inserida numa malha urbana, pensada de forma a ser repetível onde a definição de quarteirão está implícita e o criar de uma relação com o exterior num desejo claramente urbano também. Marcada por volumetrias bem definidas e estruturada através de eixos, onde está presente a racionalidade, o funcionalismo e a hierarquia de espaços. Ventura Terra a par de Raul Lino vai trazer para a habitação a experimentação, associando a técnica à estética e a tradição à inovação numa atitude claramente moderna.Abstract: With the proposed subject for this Master’s Thesis, it was intended to essentially understand the way Ventura Terra figured the dwelling, within all its typologies and premises and along with concepts such as the summer architecture and the “Portuguese home”. To this end, and having the rehabilitation of his holiday home in Seixas, Caminha, within the framework of the practical work of Project Subject III of the Lusíada University of Porto as a starting point, and after its social, political and artistic framework in this turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Ventura Terra is placed in counterpoint with Raul Lino, due to the decisive role that both, integrated in a romantic classicism, had in the evolution of housing. Raul Lino, associated to a culturalist model and a more passionate way of thinking and Ventura Terra to a progressive model, more rational and objective. It is thus concluded that the housing of Ventura Terra, a cosmopolitan, visionary and of great modernity man, despite some eclecticism, is essentially denoted by the Beaux-Arts school, within a neoclassical urbanism, inserted in an urban mesh, conceived to be repeatable where the definition of a block is implicit and the creation of a relationship with the outside in a clearly urban desire as well. Denoted by well-defined volumetrics and structured through axes, where rationality, functionalism and hierarchy of spaces are present.
