Resumo: Nowadays, we are assisting in Portugal to the development of new forms of touristic products, which result from high investments, seeking to offer in a single space a set of experiences that often becomes a destination for holiday by itself. This touristic offer called, accordingly with the Portuguese existing legislation, all inclusive resorts, represents the main focus of this paper. Although their importance in the development of less explored geographical areas hitherto becomes predictable, the emergence of all inclusive resorts in Portugal adding some controversy, especially regarding issues such as planning and land management, coordination in loco with other economic activities, integration of local resources, sustainability, among others. This article aims: (i) to characterize Portuguese integrated resorts’ supply (current and potential); and (ii) through an embrionary project called “Costa do Sal”, to understand, both the problems surrounding this kind of ventures, as well as their eventual impacts at the destination level.
