Este estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de analisar se os conhecimentos preventivos de médicos de várias especialidades se encontram em concordância com as recomendações mais atuais, bem como avaliar as possíveis diferenças que possam surgir entre especialidades, entre as diferentes zonas do país e ao longo da progressão na carreira. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo piloto observacional e transversal, realizado através de um questionário online, com caso clínico sobre diversas intervenções de carácter preventivo. O objetivo foi avaliar a concordância com as recomendações da United States Preventive Services Task Force e da American Diabetes Association, sendo particularmente dirigido a médicos especializados em MGF, medicina interna, ginecologia, urologia e endocrinologia. Efetuou-se uma análise descritiva e inferencial dos dados com comparações entre especialidades, ARS em que trabalha, serviço de saúde onde exerce e grau de carreira em que estava com o teste de Kruskall-Wallis. Foram também avaliadas correlações entre número de respostas certas, a idade e o número de anos de prática médica, com o teste de correlação de Spearman.Resultados: A amostra foi constituída por 137 médicos. Observou-se uma taxa de respostas certas de 78,7% e verificou-se uma prevalência de respostas certas igual ou superior a 90%, em 51,5% do questionário. Não obstante, observaram-se seis perguntas em que houve um maior número de respostas incorretas: realização de toque retal; teste anti-HCV e HIV; de Clamídea e Gonorreia e na regularidade com que se realizaria medição da glicose em jejum/HbA1/PTGO. Houve significativamente melhores respostas em assistentes e internos dentro dos diferentes graus de carreira (p=0,043), em MGF dentro das diferentes especialidades (p<0,001) e entre os médicos que trabalham exclusivamente no serviço público (p=0,044). Foi possível também constatar que o número de repostas certas se correlacionou negativa e significativamente com a idade (p<0,001) e número de anos de prática médica (p<0,001).Discussão e conclusão: As principais limitações do estudo estão na sua amostra reduzida, especialidade em especialidades hospitalares, e de ter sido realizado online. Os médicos da amostra apresentaram conhecimentos satisfatórios de acordo com as recomendações da UPSTF e ADA, com uma taxa de respostas certas de 78,7%, concordante com estudos feitos apenas com médicos de família. A principal área em que se verificou um défice de conhecimento foi na realização de toque retal; teste anti-HCV e HIV; de Clamídea e Gonorreia e na regularidade com que se realizaria medição da glicose em jejum/HbA1/PTGO. Constatou-se uma diferença significativa entre especialidades, entre graus de carreira, modalidade de serviço em que exerce, idade e tempo de carreira.Introduction: Preventive medicine is the field of medicine that focuses on decreasing the occurrence and severity of disease, disability or death, preventively maintained in the individual and the community. This study was carried out with the aim of analyzing whether the preventive knowledge of physicians from various specialties is in line with the current recommendations, as well as evaluating the possible differences that may arise between physicians, between different areas of the country and throughout the Career Development.Method: Observational and cross-sectional study, carried out through an online questionnaire, with a clinical case on various preventive interventions. The objective was to assess compliance with the recommendations of the United States Preventive Services Task Force and the American Diabetes Association, being particularly aimed at physicians specializing in internal medicine, gynecology, urology, endocrinology and family medicine. A descriptive and inferential analysis of the data was carried out with comparisons between specialties, the ARS in which they work, the health service where they work and the career level they were in with the Kruskall-Wallis test. Correlations between the number of correct answers, age and number of years of medical practice were also evaluated using Spearman's correlation test.Results: The sample consisted of 137 physicians. There was a rate of correct answers of 78.7% and a prevalence of correct answers equal to or greater than 90%, in 51.5% of the questionnaire. However, there were six questions in which there was a greater number of incorrect answers: rectal examination; anti-HCV and HIV testing; of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and the regularity in measuring glucose/HbA1/PTGO. There were significantly better responses within the different career levels, specifically in assistants and interns (p=0.043) within the different specialties, highlighting family physicians (p<0.001) and the different modalities in which they exercise their service, namely in the public service (p-value=0.044). It was also possible to verify that the number of correct answers correlated negatively and significantly with age (p<0.001) and number of years of medical practice (p-value<.001).Conclusions: The main limitations of the study are its reduced sample size and the fact that it was carried out online. Physicians of the specialties highlighted presented satisfactory knowledge according to the UPSTF and ADA recommendations, in agreement with studies carried out with family physicians. The main areas in which there was a lack of knowledge was in performing a digital rectal examination; anti-HCV and HIV testing; of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and the regularity with which fasting glucose/HbA1/PTGO measurement would be performed.
