Resumo: | The present dissertation work aims to understand the transformations in the waterfronts of cities that search to be in the global network. Thus, we intend to study the diversity of historical socioeconomic transformations that led to a new urban condition in times of liberalism: the reconversion of water fronts. Opening urban planning to private investments, urban entrepreneurship, and "deregulator y" policies see fertile ground in the urban voids and obsolete areas, especially in the old port terminals, once with logistics so vital to economic functions and the development of cities. The work also has as case study the project of revitalization of the port area of Rio de Janeiro, through the operation entitled Porto Maravilha. It is concer ned with the social and urban impacts of the conversion and the consequences of this operation for the area. Perceived as a brownf ield, the operation still ongoing today f inds itself in a conf lict between the new and the "old", homogenization and preservation. To understand this dynamic, a systematic analysis is categorized into four areas: the mean, the design, the image and the heritage related to the urban project. |
