Resumo: This study aims to analyze the wage differentials by gender, in the activities that are characteristic of tourism (ACTs) for the case of Brazil, using as a basis the variables provided by the human capital theory. With this objective in mind, we used microdata taken from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD), Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in 2012. First, it was made a descriptive and comparative analysis of the employees, men and women, working in the ACTs of Brazil. Then we used the decomposition of Oaxaca and Blinder (1973) perfected by Jann (2008) to measure the differences in wages by gender. The results showed that discrimination by gender occurs, showing that women are being less valued than men in their ACTs’s jobs, even when they have the same characteristics.
