Resumo: | Since the industrial revolution, with the advent of machinery that use steam under pressure, new risks have appeared - the explosions of "boilers". Currently, pressure equipment have utilization an broad that will from domestic use until production of energy (nuclear), or heavy industry (petrochemicals). These devices, by definition, work with pressures above atmospheric and thus have a large amount of stored energy. This, when it is released in a uncontrolled way, can cause negative impacts, both occupational and environmental. Those impacts, by the widespread repercussions that may take, require effective measures to prevent and protect people and property. This paper aims to highlight the importance of a correct utilization of pressure equipment, with the presentation of measures of prevention and protection and the consequences of some accidents. Nevertheless the existence of a lot of pressure equipment in operation and being reported few accidents, it is necessary to maintain its tight control, by the extremely hazardous consequences of those accidents, both in terms of people as property. |
