Moral development is the process that allows the individual to acquire models of right and wrong, just and unjust in the society where s/he is inserted. The research assessed moral emotions in adolescent offenders. One hundred and forty one adolescents, 82 in risk situation and 59 normal adolescents similar to the risk group – regarding age, socioeconomic status and gender – were studied. The subjects were assessed by means of a Scale of Moral Emotions which contains 142 items. These items were assessed in a 4 point Likert scale. Guilt, shame, anger, disgust, contempt, and embarrassment were the moral emotions assessed in the present study. With the exception of guilt, all the other moral emotions were assessed differently by the two groups that participated in the present research.
