Youth unemployment remains one of the most pressing social issues in Portugal. Tackling youth unemployment requires more social policies and more effective social interventions oriented for young people. Academia de Código is one example of a successful social intervention in the field of youth unemployment, which develops Computer Programming training courses that enable young unemployed individuals to find a job in the growing Portuguese ICT sector. The present work project evaluates the feasibility of scaling-up this effective intervention through a Social Impact Bond, an outcomes-based financing model. The analysis conducted demonstrates the significant economic and social value of a Social Impact Bond contract for Academia de Código.
