Resumo: Like other countries in Southern Europe, Portugal is in a situation of economic crisis, with consequences for the rising social tensions. In terms of social and housing problems exist various signs of the crises; however, the indicators available to measure their effects are relatively scarce.Portugal, despite being a small country, has a great diversity in terms of social and housing dynamics and characteristics. When analysing the evolution of housing offer in Portugal in the last 30 years, it is clear that housing has greatly expanded and comfort levels have improved considerably. However, there are still a number of geographical areas where housing problems persist, related mostly to socially vulnerable residential contexts. At a time of economic crisis, this clearly contributes to lowering the resilience of certain territories. The research presented is developed at national level and is based on two analytical approaches which we intend to intersect: problems related to the housing stock and socio-demographic vulnerabilities. For the operationalization of this analytical approach we used the data of the last two censuses (2001 and 211) and some indicators of PORDATA database "Knowing the crisis.
