Resumo: An architect, when designing, seeks to synthesize and develop his ideas so that ,one day, they can become reality. The dissertation "From Abstract to Concrete: Project for a Chapel in the Countryside" explores the creative process of architecture and the constant confrontation between abstract and concrete that the projectual conception implies. The architect, when designing, follows a path that starts from the abstract "world of the ideas" towards the concrete reality of the "real world". Since, in the conception of architecture, the synthesis of the ideas is what allows them to exist in the "sensible world", the logic defended by Plato in his parable of the Allegory of the Cave is inverted, placing the "world of ideas" inside the "cave", and the "sensible world" in the "real world". Thus, through the development of an architectural project for a chapel in the countryside, from its diffuse initial ideas to the aspects of construction and detail, the creative process of architecture and the constant confrontation between the abstract and the concrete are explored. The research is developed in relatively autonomous essays, which result from reflections and a sense of awareness around the project's themes that were raised during the creative process of the chapel, and that are exposed here in order to describe this path, not always linear, that the architect follows from the "world of ideas" to the "real world".
