O presente artigo exp?e um estudo desenvolvido numa escola da cidade do Tarrafal, ilha de S?o Nicolau, em Cabo Verde com o objetivo de desenvolver a consci?ncia corporal, explorando atividades relacionadas com o corpo e o movimento. A escola ? um dos espa?os que pode garantir ao aluno a oportunidade de ampliar e conhecer a sua pr?pria cultura, participando ativamente em atividades relacionadas com a mesma. O pr?prio corpo dos alunos j? carrega em si uma identidade pr?pria, uma vontade de se sentir e expressar. Este estudo, de natureza qualitativa, surge da necessidade de compreender algumas lacunas ao n?vel da express?o corporal dos alunos do ensino b?sico. As viv?ncias das v?rias gera??es no que diz respeito ? forte tradi??o de movimento corporal em contexto n?o formal n?o se reflete no contexto da escola. Pretende-se aqui partilhar uma experi?ncia da qual os resultados apontam para a exist?ncia de problemas na Educa??o Art?stica no ensino b?sico que deve ser refletido no sentido de promover uma pol?tica clara para este setor no sistema educativo. ABSTRACT: This article presents a study developed at a school in the city of Tarrafal, S?o Nicolau Island, Cabo Verde, aiming the development of body awareness, exploring activities related to the body and movement. The school is one of the spaces that can guarantee to the student the opportunity to expand and get to know their own culture, participating actively in activities related to it. The students own body already carries within itself an identity of its own, a will to feel and express. This qualitative study arose from the need to understand some gaps in the corporal expression of basic education students since that the experiences of the various generations regarding the strong tradition of body movement in a non formal context is not reflected in the school context. Here it is intended to share an experience from which the results points to the existence of problems in artistic teaching in basic education that must be reflected in the direction of promoting clear policy for this sector of the education system.
