The present study tries to clarify the relations that the architect establishes in the architectural project, with consideration for the inhabitant. With this goal, it is proposed to face the work of architecture as a composition of matter and void, and architecture while a living experience, as product of the relations established by the architect between the inhabitant, matter and void. Accepting the passivity of these elements to the isolation between themselves, it is assumed in this study that they should remain integrated in a mutual relation, to clarify the question. Therefore, the equation proposed acts as a system of different forces and attractions, in accordance with the ideological position of each architect. Thus, it is intended to clarify and understand the stimuli caused by the architect, between the inhabitant, the matter and the void, to understand the possible ways of approaching this question. The presented subject is broached in three moments that correspond to different approaches to the problem. The house of the architect is conceived as the theoretical formulation of the 'house': the space/field of idealization and experimentation of relations by the architect, in other words, his space of 'theory of inhabit'. A moment that consists on the exposition and interpretation of the ideas of Lina Bo Bardi, Alison and Peter Smithson and Luis Barragán, referring to the stated problem. The construction of the house broaches the concepts related to the inhabitant, matter, void and architect, through the study of some authors focused into this field, to create a theoretical base for studying the ideas of the selected architects. The built house corresponds to the moment of pursue of the concepts of the house of the architect in the built work of the selected architects, therefore, it broaches the search of the tools that each architect uses to materialize his ideas. With the help of these tools, it is pursued the enlightenment of the project process, in other words, through the observation of 'others' it is pursued a personal clarification of the construction process of the architectural project.
