Resumo: In the essay under review, I aim at analyzing the news stories published in four newspapers headquartered in Aveiro at the outset of the Spanish Civil War. Hence, I shall attempt to understand the impact of censorship in the regional press located in this Portuguese district, which, at the time, possessed the largest circulation of regional/local newspapers in the entire country. As such, I have come to the realization that the SPN cataloged these newspapers on the grounds of their ideological leaning. Their news stories, however, did not always match with this classification. Lastly, I focused on the figure of Homem Christo, who stands out among his peers, notably for his astuteness and for his journalistic integrity.

Deste modo, veremos que a SPN catalogava os jornais dependendo do posicionamento ideológico, mas que nem sempre as notícias coincidiam com esta classificação.
