Resumo: This paper carries out a renewed reading of Eça de Queirós’ The Relic from a Tourism studies based approach, within the framework of 19th century travel literature and the author’s literary path, highlighting the connections to his biography. Aiming to bridge the gap between the literary and the touristic domains – qualifying its main character as a tourist – his journey and motivation are emphasized.

Aiming to bridge the gap between the literary and the touristic domains – qualifying its main character as a tourist – his journey and motivation are emphasized.  O presente trabalho efetua uma releitura d’A Relíquia de Eça de Queirós a partir de uma perspetiva focada no estudo do Turismo, no contexto da literatura de viagens oitocentista e do percurso artístico do escritor, evidenciando as conexões entre este e a sua biografia.
