This thesis chooses, as an object of study, the urban tissue of an area of the city of Porto -the Boavista. This consolidated city sector, hides in its interior, social housing structuresthat are degraded and left abandoned. These structures, due to their social and economiccontext, have been marginalized from the rest of the city, by being enclosed in their ownplot, decontextualized from the rest of the urban space. During the last decades, variousstrategies from the public sector have put plans in action in order to resolve this spatialsegregation that, however, ultimately led to their progressive deformity and loss of identity.Nevertheless, there was a plan from the public sector applied to this specific area of theBoavista that proposed its restoration and reintegration in the city's urban tissue, whichhowever, was never developed. Based on this unaccomplished project, a study is carried outregarding the understanding of its conditions, its background, and the various interventionscenarios that have occurred in these structures, in order to reflect its ability and viability ofresolution according to the current scenario, still strongly characterized by the isolation andinsalubrious conditions of these spaces.Therefore, there is an attempt to outline a regeneration proposal for to this area of theBoavista, learning from the past and analysing the present, questioning the integration of aproject that has stopped in time.
