Alemanha de Hitler: O Nazismo como Fenómeno Grupal. Uma Perspectiva Bioniana

Wilfred Bion, no seu trabalho com grupos iniciado depois da Primeira Guerra Mundial, analisou um tipo particular de funcionamento grupal que designou por ‘pressuposto básico’, no qual o grupo se comporta como se os seus membros partilhassem as mesmas ansiedades primitivas e fantasias. Estes estados emocionais emergem de forma imprevisível de uma matriz primitiva, o ‘sistema protomental’, forçando o grupo a um tipo de funcionamento frequentemente psicótico. Num ‘pressuposto básico de dependência’, as emoções dominantes do grupo são a impotência, a dependência e a frustração e o líder emergente é, no entender de Bion, o mais doente dos seus membros. Aplicando estes conceitos de Wilfred Bion, a autora desenvolve uma interpretação do fenómeno do nazismo e da figura de Adolf Hitler como uma interacção (dinâmica) entre a sociedade alemã (um grupo com vários subgrupos) e os traços psicopáticos do líder, cuja marcada ‘valência’, no sentido bioniano, lhe permitiu identificar, manipular e reforçar os sentimentos de dependência do grupo a quem prometeu a ‘cura’. Summary Wilfred Bion dealt extensively with groups after the World War I and studied their particular behaviour when they moved to a state he referred to as ‘basic assumption’ – the group behaving ‘as if’ they shared the same beliefs about something. These emotional states emerge in unpredictable ways, stemming from an archaic mental system – Bion called it ‘the protomental system’ – and forcing the group to basic assumption modes of functioning which are often psychotic. Under the conditions of the ‘basic assumption dependence’, the dominant emotions of the group are impotence, dependency and frustration; its leader being, in Bion’s terms, the most sick of its members. By applying Bion’s concepts and terminology, the author analyses nazism and the figure of Adolf Hitler within the scope of the dynamic interaction between German society (a group with various sub-groups) and a leader with psychopathic traits whose special ‘valency’, in Bion’s terms, allowed him to capture, manipulate and reinforce the emotions of dependency of the group to whom he promised the ‘cure’.
