Na laje de fundo do silo de retenção existem quatro galerias com telas transportadoras que recebem o clínquer armazenado e o conduzem a outras instalações da unidade fabril. O silo de retenção e a torre central de alimentação têm fundações diretas. O projeto contemplou a conceção, o pré-dimensionamento, o dimensionamento e a execução das peças desenhadas. Os cálculos realizados obedeceram aos critérios definidos pelas normas Europeias, nomeadamente os Eurocódigos 0, 1 e 8 para a quantificação das ações (pesos próprios, restantes cargas permanentes, sobrecargas, vento, sismo, temperatura e impulsos gerados pelo material ensilado) para todas as combinações em situações de serviço e de colapso, e ainda os Eurocódigos 2, 3 e 7 no dimensionamento dos elementos de betão armado, das estruturas metálicas e na verificação da segurança do solo de fundação respetivamente. Para a análise das estruturas foram criados vários modelos no software de cálculo automático “SAP2000”, rigorosamente calibrados com as técnicas de engenharia clássica utilizadas na conceção e no pré-dimensionamento dos diversos elementos estruturais, por forma a garantir que os esforços utilizados no dimensionamento e o próprio funcionamento da estrutura correspondesse à situação real. O dimensionamento foi realizado comparando os resultados obtidos em ábacos e em folhas de cálculo em Excel, com os resultados dos modelos de cálculo em “SAP2000”, e sempre que possível com outros programas tais como: “Robot Structural Analysis”, “SemiComp”, “GaLa Reinforcement”, “LTBeam”, “A3C+” e “XD-CoSec”.The present master’s thesis consisted on the structural and foundations design of a clinker storage building that is inserted in an industrial park for cement manufacture, which includes the Retaining Silo and its Roof, the Central Tower that feeds the retaining silo, and the Steel Tower in which the clinker enters through a conveyor. The Retaining Silo and the Central Tower are superficially founded on spread footing. On the Retaining Silo bottom slab there are four galleries with extraction conveyors that lead the clinker to another factory’s production line. This project included the conception, pre-design, design and the drawings “for construction”. For this purpose, the criteria defined by European Standards was followed, mainly by apllying the Eurocodes 0, 1 and 8 for actions quantifications (self-weight, permanent loads, overloads, wind, earthquake, temperature and loads applied by the stored material), for the combination of them in service and collapse situations, and also for the use of Eurocodes 2, 3 and 7 for the design of concrete elements, steel elements and for the safety verifications of the foundation soil, respectively. To analyze the structure, a model was created in the automatic calculation software “SAP2000”, rigorously calibrated with the classical engineering techniques used in conception and in the pre-design of the structural elements, in order to guarantee that the applied loads used in the design and the structural behaviour correspond to the real situation.
