Este artículo quiere levantar un mapa cultural de México en el periodo comprendido entre 1820 y 1910. De manera general, el siglo XIX es el siglo no sólo de la creación de las instituciones políticas y sociales, sino también el de la gestación y consolidación de las culturales; así, junto a los nombre más destacados del siglo, aparecen en estas páginas las empresas editoriales más importantes, así como academias y sociedades de conferencias, que permitieron afrontar el siglo de la independencia con ciertas garantías en lo que se refiere a la educación del nuevo país. This article wants to highlight a cultural map of Mexico in the period between 1820 and 1910. In general, the 19th is the century not only of the creation of political and social institutions, but also of the gestation and consolidation of the cultural ones; thus, in these pages, next to the most prominent names of the century also appear those of the leading publishing companies, as well as of the academies and conference circles, which made it possible to tackle the century of independence with certain guarantees regarding the education of the new country.
