Resumo: Objective: This study was carried out with the aim of contribute to the investigation of a association between Covid-19 and the occurrence of PE and the main objective was the analysis and description of the occurrence of pulmonary embolism in patients infected with Sars-Cov-2 and compare them to negative Covid-19 patients. Materials and Methods: A retrospective descriptive case-control study was carried out, based on Computed Tomography exams with protocol for EP (CTPA), which were performed at the Radiology department of CHLN in the pre Covid-19 period, between December 2019 and February 2020, and in the pandemic period between December 2020 and February 2021. Results: During the pandemic period, 2025 chest CT scans were performed in the covid-19 emergency department, which 460 was CTPA and 616 chest CT scan, with 212 CTPA in the TC3 room, for hospitalizated patiens with Covid-19 infection. In the pre-covid-19 period, 1231 chest CT scans were performed, of which 171 were CTPA. Analysis and Discussion; From the analysis of the data carried out using SPSS, it was concluded that there was no increased risk of PE in Covid-19 patients who underwent CTPA for suspected PE at ER department, hospitalization due to Covid-19 does not represent a increased the risk of PE and that there was a positive association between infection by SARS-CoV-2 and elevated D-dimers.
