Resumo: | This work is an outcome of an attempt to integrate educational robotics (the Valiant Roamer robot) in two preschool rooms. It’s part of research and observation process that lasted for two school years (2009/2010 e 2010/2011), with children aged 3, 4 and 5. At a final stage in this research process, we decided to explore in one of these preschools the story “The home of the blunt fly” and develop it with the Roamer robot. The project enabled us to employ various content areas defined by the Ministry of Education for preschools. The Roamer robot enables young children to experience concepts that may be deemed abstract as concrete actions, such as “number”, “direction”, or “sequence”, within the field of Mathematics. Further more, it enables children to develop several other activities, in charge of their actions and with the opportunity to observe, handle, check, share, help, reflect, create, imagine, and develop critical reasoning and speech. To frame the activities with robots and their programming, various works were developed along several months, involving children, teachers, and support staff. Throughout this communication, we present some of the developed activities, the difficulties we encountered, the motivations and interests of children, and the final result that ended in a presentation to parents and the community. |

A Casa da Mosca Fosca: integração de robótica educativa no jardim de infânciaThis work is an outcome of an attempt to integrate educational robotics (the Valiant Roamer robot) in two preschool rooms. It’s part of research and observation process that lasted for two school years (2009/2010 e 2010/2011), with children aged 3, 4 and 5. At a final stage in this research process, we decided to explore in one of these preschools the story “The home of the blunt fly” and develop it with the Roamer robot.
