Resumo: The practice of architecture constitutes an act of social responsibility. Designing inclusive and increasingly less restrictive spaces is the new paradigm of the architect: by recognising the reality of human diversity, the architect must design solutions that ensure the best conditions of access and enjoyment of the built environment by all. Accepting the commitment to implement universal accessibility in our cities and buildings is an opportunity to promote and improve quality of life, sustainability, and equal opportunities. Addressing the guidelines that allow the creation of inclusive access, this research aims to respond to the call for participation of the University of Porto for the implementation of universal accessibility on the university campus, having as a case study the Residence Hall of Campo Alegre I. By studying the application of an accessible route, a posteriori in the architectural project, it is intended to mitigate the architectural barriers through calculated interventions that respect the identity of the building. This architectural exercise is relevant because of the modernity of the theme, proposing a reflection that not only makes it possible to think about an accessible use, but also opens the way for the construction of intervention hypothesis in other infrastructures of the University of Porto.
