The Resource Centre of Information and Communication Technologies (CRTIC) for Special Education was implemented following the implementation of the Action Plan for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (PAIPDI in 2006/2009) and the implementation of Digital Inclusion policies. This political decision is also related to the reform of special education, according to the implementation of Decree-Law Nº 3 / 2008, of 7 January. These centers, in the current knowledge and information society, may constitute themselves as an asset for those students considered with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping to alleviate their physical and intellectual limitations, as well as enhance their quality of life, inclusion in society and in a profession. Our goal with this article is to realize to what extent the intentions and the guidelines of this policy measure are reflected in the practices developed by the centers with students believed to possess special needs. It was felt that the measure was welcome, but there is still a long way to go until it can meet the expectations created around it.
