Entre a abstracção e a natureza, considerações sobre o lugar na experiência de Arquitetura

Since long ago man builds based on a direct relationship with his natural context,not only by mimetism and by gathering raw materials for their constructions,but also as a primordial condition for seeking shelter and, consequently, for thecreation of architecture, making it the paradigm of its built forms. Nowadays, thiscondition has changed. Its relationship became essentially aesthetic, sensory andpleasant, and natural forces are seen as a benign essence to man's existence.Architecture is the reflection of this, beginning gradually and sporadically to seeknew relationships with the natural environment, not only for the more evidentconnection with the landscape and the context, but also using the natural as anabstract matter that is reflected in the architectural materialization. Thus thisresearch aims to focus on the two concepts - abstraction and nature - verifyinghow they complement the creation of places and unique phenomenological andsensory experiences. Being in an time essentially marked by an accelerated andvisual reality, it is interesting to understand how these "fragile" moments, exacerbatedby their natural raw context, challenge the rhythm and the contemporarystandards, managing to generate striking and unexpected moments, bearing inmind, in a way or another, the essential condition of man.Fruit of a personal experience lived in many different contexts, and also a wishto explore my own fascination with certain architectural preferences, "BetweenAbstraction and Nature" aims to be exactly that: an opportunity to addressthematics, explore concepts and assuming many navigation points that are"between" these two terms, in order to understand why architectures that aredeveloped under this particular and sensitive perspective, create distinct placesand are assumed as significant experiences in relation to other expressions andcontexts.
