In the first part of the dissertation I will approach Discourse Networks, a work of Friedrich Kittler published in 1985, where I will try to delineate some of the questions that guide this book. I begin with a general presentation of F. Kittler’s work, exposing some of his most influent thoughts. Discourse Networks is a work that can be considered “post-hermeneutics”, in the sense that it is also “post-structuralist”, incorporating concepts that germinate from the “structuralist movement”, inspired by Structural Linguistics, but already dissociating from it. The problem of authority or authorship is also one of the main themes that guide this book, problem to which I bring, very briefly, Michel Foucault, author that publishes an article called “What is an Author?”, as a response to “The Death of the Author”, from Roland Barthes. Discourse Networks is divided in two moments, “1800” and “1900”. In “1800”, a new kind of relationship develops between mothers and their children, the woman being, especially in the privileged classes, in charge of teaching children to read from a very young age, as preparation before entering school, that becomes mandatory and universal for the whole population in Germany during this period. The new maternal pedagogic relationship brings a new status to the book, that keeps in itself the monopoly of information in the discourse network of “1800”, ensuring auditory proprieties to the text, an effect of the oralization through the voice of the mother. In this epoch, the book enjoys not only the technical means for its rapid reproduction, that is, the Gutenberg press, but also the support of an alphabetized population, conditions that bring profound consequences for the conceptualization of subject, work, Poetry, Sense, Humanity. The passage to the epoch of “1900” is represented by Friedrich Nietzsche that, being the last philosopher and the first media theorist (according to Friedrich Kittler), experiments a new relation between writer and the text that is produced. In a second part of this work I will mainly focus on lacanian psychoanalysis, where F. Kittler will find the triad of the Real, Symbolic and Imaginary and appropriate those terms to, in the book Gramophone, Film, Typewriter, published one year after Discourse Networks, represent the Real through the gramophone, the Symbolic through the Typewriter and the Imaginary through the film. The technologies that appear at the end of the XIX century will make possible a new way of storing information, no longer being ruled by the limits of meaning, by the grid of the Symbolic. I will deepen certain lacanian formulas, giving special attention to the way psychoanalysis looks at the Woman.O fio condutor deste trabalho é a relação entre tecnologia, memória e as condições de possibilidade do discurso em Friedrich Kittler. Na primeira parte da dissertação abordarei Discourse Networks, obra de de 1985, procurando delinear algumas das questões que conduzem o texto. Começo por uma apresentação geral do trabalho de F. Kittler, em que exponho algumas das suas teses mais influentes. Discourse Networks é uma obra que pode ser considerada “pós-hermenêutica”, no sentido em que seria também “pós-estruturalista”, incorporando conceitos que brotam a partir do “movimento estruturalista”, inspirado pela Linguística Estrutural, mas que se distanciam já deste. O problema da autoria ou da autoridade conduz também esta obra, questão para a qual trago muito brevemente Michel Foucault, autor que publica um artigo intitulado “O que é um Autor?” como resposta ao texto “A Morte do Autor”, de Roland Barthes. Discourse Networks divide-se em dois momentos, “1800” e “1900”. Em “1800”, desenvolve-se um novo tipo de relação entre mães e filhos, estando a mulher, sobretudo nas classes mais privilegiadas, encarregada de ensinar a leitura as crianças desde muito cedo, como preparação para a entrada na escola, que passa a ser obrigatória e universal para toda a população da Alemanha. A nova relação pedagógica materna vem dar um novo estatuto ao livro, que guarda em si o monopólio da informação da rede de discursos de “1800”, garantindo ao texto propriedades auditivas, fruto da oralização pela voz da mãe. Nesta época, o livro usufrui não só de meios técnicos para a sua rápida reprodução, isto é, a imprensa de Gutenberg, mas também do suporte de uma população alfabetizada, o que trará profundas consequências para a conceptualização de Sujeito, de Obra, de Poesia, de Sentido, de Humanidade. A passagem para a época de “1900” é representada por Friedrich Nietzsche que, sendo o último filósofo e primeiro teórico dos media (segundo F. Kittler), vem experimentar uma nova relação entre o escritor e o texto que é produzido. Numa segunda parte deste trabalho foco-me principalmente na psicanálise lacaniana, onde F. Kittler vai encontrar a tríade do Real, Simbólico e Imaginário e apropriar-se desta para, no livro Gramophone, Film, Tuypewriter, publicado um ano depois de Discourse Networks, representar o Real através do gramofone, o Simbólico pela máquina de escrever, e o Imaginário pelo filme. As tecnologias que aparecem no final do século XIX vêm possibilitar uma nova forma de armazenar informação, não se regendo mais pelos limites do sentido, pela grelha do simbólico.
