What information should nurses provide to patients about radiotherapy and its side effects

The aim of this study was to answer the following question: “what’s the information about radiotherapy and its secondary effects that the nurse should give to the patient who will be submitted to this kind of treatment?”A descriptive-exploratory study with a quantitative approach was developed. The convenience sample (non-probabilistic) was made of 26 health care nurses, who voluntary take part in this study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data.In conclusion, the information actually given to the patient is insufficient. More and better information will help the patient to understand the radiotherapy treatment, in which the nurses are responsible for informing and training the patients.
