Resumo: This article aims to reflect on the care of the common house, based on the proposal of Laudato si’, seeking to understand its Biblical Theology and the biblical inspiration indicated by Francis, the text of Rom 8,22 being the first biblical quotation in his Encyclical Letter (LS, 2). Understanding the biblical bases, explicit and implicit, as well as the guiding thread of the Theology of Creation present in Laudato si’ is very important to understand the mission that Christianity has in face of the current socio-environmental crisis. Francisco points out the dialogue between knowledge and powers as a privileged way to take care of the common home. Bearing in mind this Encyclical Letter, we seek to carry out a study of its biblical bases, and then approach the Pauline text of Rom 8,22, which demonstrates a concern with the work of creation. The study reveals that Francis has before him the Judeo-Christian biblical tradition, as well as today’s reality and challenges, and wants to make a contribution, inviting the Church and humanity to reflect on the seriousness of the risk facing the common home. and to look for ways to overcome the current socio-environmental crisis.

Universidade Católica Portuguesa2022-05-04T00:00:00Zjournal articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.34632/ephata.2022.10885oai:ojs.revistas.ucp.pt:article/10885Ephata; Vol 4 No 1 (2022): On the subject of the “common home” in integral ecology.
