Resumo: From the first stages of life, due to the appropriation of space by the body, we build a web of memories of places that tell our story and form our memory. In this way, we realise that architecture lives off the relation between what is concrete and what is intangible, between matter and time. It builds a place for the body of senses which is also the body of memories. Using this idea as the starting point, we intend to understand to what extent architecture triggers our senses and mind, affecting us internally and externally. Having as the main objective the clarification of the bridge between architecture and Man - being of memory and body -, a reflective discourse is developed regarding place, landscape, time, history, identity, memory, body, space, matter, form, senses, shelter/refuge, inhabit/re-inhabit. Transposing abstract theory to concrete reality, a significant place of individual architectural experience is chosen where the (re)construction of a refuge for memory and the senses is proposed, as a materialization of consolidated ideas. The rehabilitation project of a small barn in Manhufe represents the ideal place as an expression of desires, vocations and habits. It is a shelter for the body that stimulates the five senses and finds it's identity in the exaltation of the memory of the place. It is the realisation of the dream house as past nostalgia and future projection.
