A amostra utilizada no estudo foi composta por 23 atletas nadadores de três clubes de natação juvenil com idade média de 16,6 ± 2,7 anos, divididos em grupos de competição regional e nacional. Foram recolhidas amostras de saliva em dois grupos com determinação dos parâmetros salivares do cortisol e testosterona realizados através da técnica de ELISA. Ambos os grupos tiveram recolha de saliva para análise, no início da época de treinos e em dois momentos da fase intermédia de treinos, sendo que o grupo de nadadores que chegou à competição nacional teve, ainda, recolhas pós-competição.A recolha da saliva foi relacionada à quantificação da carga de treinos após cada fase do microciclo. A quantificação da carga de treino é proposta por Mujika et al., 1986, 1995, 1996), propõem um sistema de quantificação do treino baseado em índices de dificuldades relacionado ao estresse provocado pelo estímulo do exercício atribuídos a zonas de intensidade permitindo a utilização de coeficientes de ponderação do treino multiplicados pela distância percorrida do nado. Os resultados mostraram que o grupo regional apresentou um aumento dos níveis de cortisol comparativamente ao grupo nacional, já os níveis de testosterona não apresentaram alterações significativas nas semanas intermédias de treino com cargas elevadas em ambos os grupos, embora o grupo nacional tenha apresentado elevados níveis de testosterona após a competição. Também o grupo nacional apresentou melhores condições físicas que o grupo regional.The objective of this study was to analyze the response of hormonal biochemical markers of cortisol and salivary testosterone in swimmers within the last macrocycle of training of a sporting period. The sample used in the study was composed of 23 swimmers from three juvenile swimming clubs with a mean age of 16.6 ± 2.7, divided into regional and national competition groups. Samples of saliva were collected in both groups with determination of salivary parameters of cortisol and testosterone performed by the ELISA technique. Both groups had saliva collected for analysis at the beginning of the training season, after a rest period, in two moments of the intermediate stage of training, and only the group of swimmers that arrived at the national competition competition had collections after -competition. The collection of the saliva was related to the quantification of the training load after each phase of the microcycle. The quantification of training load is proposed by Mujica et al. (1986, 1995, 1996), based on the distance of swimming through the volume traveled (mileage), is related to the difficulty indexes assigned to each zone of intensity allowing the use of factors of weighting.
