Espaços do vinho. Proposta para uma adega em Cambres, Lamego

Resumo: Architecture and wine are the main subjects of this work. The specificity that characterizes spaces created for winemaking is related to technical features that have accompanied the evolution of the vinification process, as well as the intense conceptual and sensory ideas associated to these spaces, which have become increasingly more qualified through architectural intervention. Through the research on key factors in wine space design, a practical solution for a winery in the Douro region will be presented. The essay starts with a current outline of wine culture and the popular phenomenon of wine tourism as a way to bring people to the production and storage sites. In this context, new programs and new expressions are developed and integrated, creating complementary and attractive conditions for wine tourists. A simultaneously global and detailed observation on the Douro winescape will follow, for it stands as the circumstance for the project, tending to aspects of popular tradition that build, solve and characterize certain situations that belong to this territory. The values of heritage and identity become relevant in the understanding of the place. Moving from a contextual overview to the interior of wine producing architectures, a survey on functional and perceptive aspects of such spaces reveals architecture's role in combining technical determinants with elements of poetic strength and, thus, creating unique environments. The project presentation for a winery in Cambres concludes the sequence on the investigation on wine spaces by bringing together previously discussed issues for the conception of the practical case. In consideration is the architectural intervention's meaning, referring to its scope as well as the existing local constraints and other situations brought up by the client. This space encloses a stance on the approach to creative solutions for contemporary wine producing facilities.
