Between dream to madness: portuguese immigrants in the Juquery Hospital, São Paulo – 1930sEntre o sonho e a loucura: imigrantes portugueses no Hospital do Juquery, São Paulo – década de 1930During the 1930s psychiatric discourse around immigration won capillarity. Influenced by Eugenics, the Brazilian psychiatry has positioned itself in favor of an immigration control policy in order to select individual not only foreigners, but also a selection of "racial groups".
