Foram recolhidos para análise os dados obtidos nas consultas do pré-operatório e aos 6 meses pós-operatório: acuidade visual não-corrigida (AVNC), melhor acuidade visual corrigida (MAVC), refração (esfera e cilindro) e o desvio da lente em relação ao ângulo de colocação primário.Resultados: No pré-operatório, a refração cilíndrica média era 2,43±1,31 D, a AVNC média 0,96±0,31 logMAR e a MAVC média 0,52±0,36 logMAR. No pós-operatório observou-se uma AVNC média de 0,19±0,24 logMAR e MAVC média de 0,07±0,19 logMAR. A AVNC pós-operatória foi ≤0,1 logMAR em 55% do total dos olhos [47,5% daqueles com LIO Acrysof® IQ toric e em 62,5% daqueles com LIO enVista® toric, diferença essa que não foi estatisticamente significativa (p=0,158)]. A potência esférica diminuiu em todos os doentes, após a cirurgia, para um valor médio de 0,63±0,49 D e foi estatisticamente significativo comparado com o valor médio pré-operatório (p<0,001). O valor médio do cilindro diminuiu em todos os doentes de 2,43±1,31 D para 0,89±0,65 D, após a cirurgia, sendo as diferenças estatisticamente significativas para ambas as lentes (p<0,001). Aos 6 meses de pós-operatório, o astigmatismo era ≤1,0 D em 70% dos doentes com LIO Acrysof® IQ toric e em 75% dos doentes com a LIO enVista® toric. O desvio médio do eixo foi 1,39±3,10° no total dos doentes (mínimo de 0° e máximo 13°). Nos olhos implantados com LIO Acrysof® IQ toric, o desvio médio do eixo foi de 1,08±2,74° e nos implantados com a LIO enVista® toric foi de 1,73±3,45°, não havendo diferença estatisticamente significativa (p=0,358). Foi notável uma rotação da LIO ≤5° em 95% e em 90% dos olhos implantados com LIO Acrysof® IQ toric e com LIO enVista® toric, respetivamente, e uma rotação superior a 10° foi observada apenas em 2,5% dos olhos implantados quer com a LIO enVista® toric, quer com a LIO Acrysof® IQ toric. A reportar, houve 3 casos de endpoints negativos na LIO enVista® toric que sofreram rotações de 20° a 30°, nas primeiras semanas, tendo sido submetidos a cirurgia de reposicionamento da LIO tórica.Conclusão: Ambas as LIO tóricas (Acrysof® IQ toric e enVista® toric) proporcionam uma melhoria, estatisticamente significativa, quer da acuidade visual (corrigida e não-corrigida), quer da potência esférica, quer da cilíndrica. Apesar de não ter havido diferenças estatisticamente significativas, aos 6 meses, relativamente à estabilidade rotacional entre as LIO tóricas em estudo, observou-se não só um maior número de casos de rotação, como também maiores desvios do eixo, com a LIO enVista® toric.Objective: To analyze and compare the clinical outcomes, efficacy, safety and rotational stability of two models of toric intraocular lenses (IOLs) implanted during cataract surgery: Acrysof® IQ toric and enVista® toric.Place of research: Centro de Responsabilidade Integrado de Oftalmologia do Centro Hospitalar da Universidade de Coimbra (CRIO-CHUC).Design: Retrospective observational case study.Methods: Eighty patients, undergoing cataract surgery were included, who had a corneal astigmatism ≥1.50 D were implanted with toric IOLs (40 eyes with Acrysof® IQ toric IOL and 40 eyes with IOL enVista® toric). The data obtained in the preoperative and 6 months postoperative consultations collected for analysis were: uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refraction (spherical and cylindrical) and lens deviation from the primary placement angle.Results: In the preoperative period, the mean cylindrical refraction was 2.43±1.31 D, mean UCVA 0.96±0.31 logMAR and mean BCVA 0.52±0.36 logMAR. A mean UCVA of 0.19±0.24 logMAR and mean BCVA of 0.07±0.19 logMAR was observed postoperatively. The postoperative UCVA was ≤0.1 logMAR in 55% of the total eyes [47.5% of those with Acrysof® IQ toric and 62.5% of those with enVista® toric IOLs, a difference that was not statistically significant (p=0.158)]. Spherical power decreased in all patients after surgery to an average value of 0.63±0.49 D and was statistically significant compared to the mean preoperative value (p<0.001). The mean value of the cylinder decreased in all patients from 2.43±1.31 D to 0.89 ± 0.65 D after surgery, statistically significant for both lenses (p<0.001). At 6 months postoperatively, astigmatism was ≤1.0 D in 70% for Acrysof® IQ toric IOLs and 75% for enVista® toric. The mean axis deviation was 1.39±3.10° considering the total of eyes studied (minimum 0° and maximum 13°). For the eyes implanted with Acrysof® IQ toric IOLs, the mean axis deviation was 1.08±2.74° and in those implanted with the enVista® toric IOLs was 1.73±3.45°, and no statistically significant difference was verified (p=0.358). An IOLs rotation ≤5° was seen in 95% and 90% of eyes implanted with Acrysof® IQ toric IOLs and IOLs enVista® toric, respectively, and a rotation greater than 10° was observed in only 2.5% of eyes implanted either with the IOLs enVista® toric or with the IOLs Acrysof® IQ toric. To report, there were 3 cases of negative endpoints in the enVista® toric IOLs that showed rotations of 20° to 30° in the first weeks, and underwent surgery for IOLs reposition.Conclusion: IOLs Acrysof® IQ toric and enVista® toric provided a statistically significant improvement in both corrected and uncorrected visual acuity and in both spherical and cylindrical power.
