Resumo: This article focuses on the subject, contents and structure of Book IV of Scaliger’s Poetics devoted to elocution.Therefore: 1. it begins by assessing the way the author has dealt with the Hermogenian theory of the archetypal forms of style analysed both by themselves and in the translation by Jorge de Trebizonda; 2. it proceeds to comment on the large space devoted by Scaliger to the figures of diction and, in the last chapters, to the semantics of sounds; 3. through an analytical study, we have sought to highlight not only the strong theoretical component of the Book, peculiar to the author, but also the systematic character of its illustration based on Virgil’s work.

En este sentido: 1. Comienza apreciando la manera como trató el autor la teoría hermogeniana de las formas arquetípicas de estilo, analizadas en sí y en la traducción de Jorge deTrebisonda; 2. Prosigue con el comentario al extenso espacio dedicado por Escalígero a las Figuras de dicción y, en los últimos capítulos, a la semántica de los sonidos; 3. Intenta, a través de un estudio analítico, poner de relieve no sólo el fuerte componente teórico del Libro, característico del autor, sino también el caráctersistemático de su ejemplificación con recurso a la obra virgiliana.Cet article cherche à faire à connaître la teneur, le contenu et la structure du Livre IV de la Poétique de Scaliger, consacré à l’elocutio. Dans ce sens: 1. Ce texte commence par faire une appréciation sur la manière dont l’auteur a traité la théorie hermogénienne des formes archétypiques de style, analysées telles qu’elles sont originalement présentées et selon la traduction de Jorge de Trébizonde; 2. Il continue avec le commentaire au grand espace que Scaliger a consacré aux Figures de diction et, dans les derniers chapitres, à la sémantique des sons; 3. Il cherche, à titre démonstratif, à mettre en relief, non seulement la forte composante théorique du Livre, propre à l’auteur, mais aussi le caractère systématique de son illustrationd’après l’œuvre virgilienne.Este artigo pretende dar a conhecer o teor, o conteúdo e a estrutura do Livro IV da Poética de Escalígero, consagrado à elocutio. Nesse sentido: 1. Começa por apreciar o modo como o autor tratou a teoria hermogiana das formas arquetípicas de estilo, analisadas em si mesmas e na tradução de Jorge de Trebizonda; 2. Continua com o comentário ao largo espaço consagrado por Escalígero às Figuras de dicção e, nos últimos capítulos, à semântica dos sons; 3.
