The purpose of this dissertation is the study and analysis of theorical and projectual production, in the framework of urban landscape, made by the architect Raul Lino (1879-1974). he expressive presence of an essencially domestic character with a rural and suburban implantation which are being seen in this architect's work have led to a supericial understanding of his lack of interest for the public space issue. However, Raul Lino's projectual production has many examples of intervention in the urban landscape and, considering his literary contribution, this issue is addressed with even more emphasis. he study aims to verify which syntactic and semantic axes crossed his work, in order to verify how it goes with his notion of 'doing architecture'. The architect even saw the opportunity to think the square, priviledged space of the city, in the Ante-Projecto da Praça Luís Ribeiro (1945), in S. João da Madeira, that will be used as the subject of study. The goal of this thesis is to search for a sharpen idea of urban and "urban project" in Raul Lino, estabilishing parallelisms between his theory and his work.
